Genealogy Club of Newtown: Tracking Down Your Eastern European Ancestors
Historical

The wars, the redrawn borders and the catastrophes did not take everything. An astonishing number of Eastern European records survive, and the problem is knowing where to look.
This session covers the strategies that actually work: locating a place of origin, uncovering original names before they were anglicized, finding and requesting the records themselves, learning to read them, and coping with the language barriers in between.
Pam came to genealogy professionally after a twenty year writing career. Her articles have appeared in the National Genealogical Society Magazine and the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly, and her lectures take her coast to coast. All of her own known ancestors were Eastern European. She joins the club remotely from Oregon.
Good to know. Free, in the Meeting Room, hosted by the Genealogy Club of Newtown. The speaker appears by video, but the audience meets in person at the library.
