Intro to Spindle Turning: Making a Candlestick

Spindle turning is where most turners start, because the shape is right there in front of you the whole time.

The session opens with a demonstration and an overview of the tools and studio safety, then students turn and finish a poplar block into a large candlestick of their own, roughly ten inches tall. Straightforward, satisfying, and a good gauge of whether you want to spend more time at a lathe.
