Italian Cooking Class with Marcello

You start with flour and water and end up with cavatelli, which is the sort of evening that stays with you longer than dinner does.

Marcello runs a hands-on evening of cooking, eating together and taking something home. The menu is bruschette della zia, his aunt's version with tomato, capers, olives, basil and a great deal of olive oil; homemade cavatelli made by hand, dressed half with a simple sugo di pomodoro and half with homemade pesto; and a classic tiramisu. He guides every step, so it suits people who love to cook and people who are mainly there for the food and the company.

Make a night of it. Bring a bottle of wine. The library of Italian food and good company is, as he puts it, a lovely pairing.

Good to know. $99 per adult. The two November sittings of this class have both sold out, so this December date is the one with places left.
