Make a Blocked Felt Hat
Workshop & Classes

Hat blocking is the part of millinery that turns a flat piece of felt into something with a crown and a brim.
Local milliner Jaya Lee leads a two-Saturday workshop using traditional blocking techniques, and everyone leaves with a wool felt hat made to their own head. It is a genuinely old craft and one of the few where the finished object gets worn out of the building.
Good to know. The two Saturdays run to different lengths — the first is a short session, the second a long one — so check the times when you register. $235 for both, in the Fiber Studio at 286 Whisconier Road. Prices and openings change, so check the registration page before you plan around it.
Please check with the organizer if the event date, time or offer has changed.** LTO
