Manhattan Short Film Festival: Matinee

It started with 16 short films projected onto a screen bolted to the side of a truck on Mulberry Street.

Manhattan Short began in 1998, when founder Nicholas Mason gathered 200 people in Little Italy for that first screening. A year later it moved uptown to Union Square Park, and audiences made it an annual fixture.

From there it became a worldwide phenomenon. Manhattan Short is now the only film festival on the planet that unfolds simultaneously in more than 500 cinemas across six continents, bringing over 100,000 film-lovers together in a single week to watch the work of the next generation of filmmakers.
