Pippin

A young prince goes looking for something extraordinary. A troupe of players is only too happy to help.

Pippin follows a king's son on a quest for his own extraordinary destiny, steered throughout by a charismatic Leading Player and the troupe around him. The score is Stephen Schwartz at his most inventive, the book is by Roger O. Hirson, and Bob Fosse, who directed the original Broadway production for Stuart Ostrow, contributed additional material of his own. It is a show built out of theatrical sleight of hand, and it has never stopped working.

The Playshop production is directed by Jessica Rae Foulds, with music direction by Zachary Anderson and choreography by Zoe Anderson and Jessica Rae Foulds. Eric Lewin plays Pippin and Kelsey Senteio the Leading Player, with Bob Filipowich as Charlemagne, Elyse Jasensky as Berthe, Em Lubbers as Catherine, Lauren Garafano as Fastrada and Shannon Ireland as Theo.

Audience advisory. The Playshop advises that this production carries mature themes, scenes of intimacy, and references to war, death, violence and suicide, and that it may not be suitable for young children. Parental discretion is advised.
