RSO in Concert: Masterworks

A concerto that needs three soloists, and a symphony that waited decades for its due.

The centrepiece is Beethoven's Triple Concerto, which asks for violin, cello and piano at once and is played here by the Tristan Trio: Thomas Lee Cooper, Tyler Michael James and Aljoša Jurinić. Around it sit Brahms's Hungarian Dances and William L. Dawson's Negro Folk Symphony, a 1934 work that drew on spirituals and on Dawson's own study of West African music, and which is only now getting programmed with the regularity it always warranted.

Good to know. Tickets run $12.50 to $65.00 including fees.

Where to go. This one is in Wilton, not Ridgefield: the David F. Clune Auditorium at Wilton High School, 395 Danbury Road.
