Sam Grisman is a bassist and bandleader fronting a commanding improvisational ensemble that performs live acoustic music in the tradition shaped by Jerry Garcia, David Grisman and their many heroes. The project is known for deeply attuned interplay and dynamic performances, built around a rotating cast of exceptional musicians.

What comes out of that is a listening-room experience rooted in musicianship, storytelling, spontaneity and collaboration — with frequent guest appearances and an ongoing collaboration with bluegrass pioneer Peter Rowan keeping a living tradition of great American acoustic music going.

Relix called it one of the most joyful and reverent tributes to the Grateful Dawg legacy you will ever witness. Bluegrass Today put it more simply: this is not nostalgia.
