Samhain with Brandon Mullis

Halloween, but handled as Samhain.

Samhain is the old Celtic marker for the end of the harvest and the start of winter, the night the year turns over. Whitlock's is leaning into that reading of the thirty first rather than the costume party version, with Brandon Mullis playing live from six until nine.

Mullis played the pub's Irish brunch in September, so this is a known quantity.

Irish whiskey, a fire's worth of atmosphere, and the one night of the year when an Irish pub has the better claim on the holiday.

There is a costume contest. Nine o'clock, and the pub is open until eleven. The night also carries raffles and a run of Halloween drinks.

Where to go. Whitlock's sits on Greenwood Avenue in the middle of Bethel, a veteran owned Irish pub and neighborhood bar with made to order food, one of the better Irish whiskey lists around, and a standing welcome for dogs.
