Silent Book Club

A book club with no required reading, which is either a contradiction or the whole point.

The C.H. Booth Library's Silent Book Club is exactly what it sounds like: bring a book of your own choosing, settle in with tea, and read in the company of other people doing the same. Conversation happens around the edges rather than to a schedule. Nobody assigns anything and nobody is behind.

It does not meet at the library. The group gathers at The Room, 266 South Main Street in Newtown, next door to Jewel of the Himalaya. Go there rather than to the library building.

When it meets. The third Thursday of the month, 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The library has posted October 15, November 19, December 17, January 21 and February 18, 2027 so far, and adds further dates as the season goes on.

Good to know. Free, and no registration.
