So You Want to Write a Children's Book (Online)
Talk Series

You have been thinking about writing a children's book. The questions that stop people are all answerable, and they are mostly structural.
How long should the book be. What age range to write for. What belongs in it and what does not. Whether you need to find an illustrator before you approach a publisher, which is the one most first-time writers get wrong. This session covers the decisions worth making before you start writing, then the process of publishing with a traditional publisher and what to keep in mind once you are ready to query.
Natalia Vazquez Torres is a production and managing editor at Levine Querido and a freelance editor, previously an associate editor at Charlesbridge. She has worked on children's books in both English and Spanish.
