Noah Rothbaum has spent twenty-five years researching whiskey, and a fair portion of that drinking it. He is bringing samples.
Rothbaum is one of the world's leading authorities on spirits and cocktails, a James Beard Award winner and a Kentucky Colonel, and he comes to the Brubeck Room to introduce The Whiskey Bible: A Complete Guide to the World's Greatest Spirit. The book runs to over six hundred pages with full color photography: a country-by-country tour of the major distillers and the culture around them, hundreds of whiskies from the famous labels down to small-batch newcomers, the histories, and the differences in distilling practice and house style that separate one region from the next. There is an appendix of cocktail recipes running from the Old-Fashioned to the Irish Flip.
There is time for questions afterwards, and Rothbaum provides samples to go with the talk, which is the sort of detail that decides whether you go.
Good to know. Free, in the Brubeck Room, and adults only. Registration is required and closes at 5:00pm on the day.
