Calling all history sleuths… over the age of six. Date: July 4, 2025 - September 1, 2025
Test your knowledge of Ridgefield with this hands-on, nitty-gritty adventure that will earn participants a keepsake Scavenger Hunt Passport filled with the signatures of 14 signers of the Declaration of Independence – and a backpack pin.
On July 4, 2025, Ridgefield embarks on a yearlong commemoration, eventually marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Ridgefield is home to several nationally recognized historic places that offer a snapshot of what life was like back in Ridgefield’s early days – before and during the signing of the Declaration.
The adventure, designed for those over the age of 6, explores 14 of those locations.
Get a Scavenger Hunt Passport and follow the clues… from #1 to #14. Each clue sends you to a location, which has a Signer’s stamp and an ink pad. Stamp each location page in your Scavenger Hunt Passport as you go. Once you’ve been to all 14 locations, present your completed stamped Passport at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center’s Visitor Center to pick up your special backpack pin!
There is no deadline, no start and end date, and it’s not a race. You can do it all in one day, or you take all summer. It’s up to you.
Passports will become available at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center on Friday,
July 4, from 11 am to 3 pm, during the kickoff event featuring food, games, music, a dunk tank (for King George), and a reading of The Declaration of Independence. The Scavenger Hunt Passport costs $5 – and is yours to keep.
The Ridgefield Passport Adventure is organized by Ridgefield Commemorates America at 250, a committee appointed by Ridgefield’s Board of Selectpersons and tasked with overseeing how all the town civic and cultural groups commemorate America turning 250 on July 4, 2026.
