Hundreds Attend Harvey Fierstein’s World Premiere Quilt Exhibition a success at Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center.

Ridgefield, Conn.— What a show! Almost 700 people visited Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center in late July for Tony Award-winning playwright, actor, and activist – and Ridgefield resident! – Harvey Fierstein’s first-ever public showing of his quilts. At "You Made That?" The Quilting Adventures of Harvey Fierstein, attendees included quilters, art aficionados, and Harvey's friends and fans from near and far.

Harvey was extraordinarily generous with his time, chatting with attendees in the Garden House throughout the show – sharing insights about his inspiration, process, and technique for crafting his extraordinary quilts.

According to KTM&HC Executive Director Hildegard Grob, the event was a huge success: “Thanks to the energy and hard work of a dedicated team – including Harvey himself – the exhibition was an incredible success and a truly exciting opportunity for us to introduce ourselves to new audiences across the country. A special shout-out to our sponsors, Cotton Candy Fabric & Quilts and Adam Broderick Salon & Spa. We’re thrilled to showcase such incredible artistry and craft, with deep roots in the historic traditions of quilting in America. And with so many attendees coming to the museum – and Ridgefield – for the first time ever for this event, we are proud of the economic pull KTM&HC has for the town as a cultural destination.” All proceeds from the exhibition go directly to KTM&HC in support of the museum’s mission-driven education and preservation work.
