Senior Voices: How to be More Physically Fit Today and 10 Years from Now

Senior Voices Series Continues at Ridgefield Public Library with Presentation on “How to be More Physically Fit Today and 10 Years from Now”

The Ridgefield Commission on Aging is pleased to invite local seniors to this Senior Voices presentation on Tuesday, April 7th from 1:00-2:30 PM at the Ridgefield Library. This month the talk will be given by Jay Correia, Clinical Director and Physical Therapist at Professional Physical Therapy in Ridgefield.

In his work as a physical therapist, Jay treats patients experiencing a wide range of conditions, from posture-related strain and repetitive stress injuries to recovery following joint replacement and strokes.  This presentation will be an engaging and practical discussion on how everyday habits shape our long-term physical health and how we can be stronger in the future.

In interviewing clients about what they do consistently throughout their day — how they sit, stand, walk, work, and move, Jay helps identify daily patterns affecting areas of the body that may be breaking down over time and develops targeted exercises to counteract those habitual stresses.  A central theme of Jay’s approach is giving people permission to move. Rather than focusing solely on limitations, he empowers clients to understand what they can safely do — helping them build strength and resilience not just for today, but for the next 10 years and beyond.

During the program, Jay will also share what to look for when selecting a physical therapist, including the importance of online reviews, the overall atmosphere and “vibe” of a clinic, and clear goal setting between therapist and patient. Professional Physical Therapy offers free injury screens, providing an accessible starting point for those unsure whether they need treatment.Senior Voices is a free event and hybrid program. Individuals may attend in person or register via Zoom through the library. Participants are invited to enjoy light refreshments and conversation following the program.
