Your Saturday Just Got a Whole Lot More Fun: SummerFest Is Back in Downtown Ridgefield

ridgefeidl summerfest

If you've been going along, going along and wondering what to do this Saturday, let me make it easy for you. Head downtown. SummerFest is happening on Main Street this Saturday, July 25th, from 10am to 3pm, and honestly, it is one of my favorite days of the whole summer in Ridgefield.

This is Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce's day to shut down Main Street and let the whole town show up and just be together. Shopping, food, music, kids running around with goat treats in their hands. It's all of it, all at once, and it's free.

Here's where you come in. Bring the family, bring your neighbors, bring whoever you can talk into coming with you. Let's keep this simple: park, walk, and let the day unfold.

Start With the Farmers Market

Before Main Street fills up, swing by the Ridgefield Farmers Market at Jesse Lee, running from 10am to 1pm. It's the kind of thing you can walk past every day of the year and never quite make time for, so this is your excuse. Grab something for breakfast, say hi to the growers and makers who keep this town fed, and then let the rest of the day carry you down the street.

Main Street, Wall to Wall

More than 100 vendors will line Main Street this year. Local artisans, small shops, community groups, and makers you have probably never heard of but are about to fall in love with. Wander in and out, take your time, and don't be surprised if you leave with something you didn't know you needed.

While you're out there, keep an eye out for sidewalk sales at our local boutiques and shops. It's the perfect excuse to actually go inside the places you've been meaning to check out.

Something New This Year: The Wellness District

This one's new, and I love it. A whole Wellness District will be set up with mini facials, massages, and stretching stations, right there on Main Street. So if the day starts to feel like a lot, there's a built-in reset button.

Bring the Kids to Lounsbury House

If you've got little ones, Lounsbury House is where you're headed. Touch-A-Truck lets kids climb up and explore construction trucks, sports vehicles, and emergency vehicles up close. There will also be baby goats to pet, train rides to take, and sensory play set up through Ridgefield Parks & Recreation. This is the part of the day where the grownups get to just stand back and watch the joy happen.

Music, All Day Long

You'll hear Ridgefield before you see it. Bach to Rock's student band will be playing over on the Ridgefield Library Lawn from 10am to noon, and Summer Stars of A.C.T. of CT will be performing as well. There's a live DJ and roaming performers moving through the crowd too, so don't be shocked if the entertainment finds you before you find it.

Explore Bailey Ave and Keeler Tavern

Bailey Ave will be pedestrian-friendly for the day, so take the extra few minutes to wander that way too. And if history is your thing, Keeler Tavern Museum will have tours available, a nice quiet stop in the middle of a lively day.

Why This Day Matters

Here's the thing about SummerFest. It's not really about any one vendor or any one activity. It's about all of us being on Main Street at the same time, on purpose, for no reason other than we love this town. New to Ridgefield or 27 years in like me and David, this is the kind of day that makes you feel like you actually live somewhere, not just reside somewhere.

Every dollar you spend at our local coffee shops, restaurants, and shops that day goes right back into the businesses that make Ridgefield feel like Ridgefield. That part matters to me every single time.
